This is the Trifid Nebula (M20) also located in Sagittarius. Taken using a Celestron 11GPS and a SBIG ST237A camera.

Thank you very much. It is very hard to do this in my opinion. You have a sky that is moving, a telescope that is moving. And both move at different speeds. You have to take picture 4 different times at the very leasts. One in BW, one each through a red, green and a blue filter. Then you have to focus the telescop through each different filter to make sure that you are focused. Then you have to combine each pciture and make sure they are lined up correctly. WHEW.

LOL! needless to say, it is a lot of work. but very amazing what you can see through a 15 second exposure through a camera vs just looking through the eyepeice.

Celestron 11GPS?

isn't that like a ll inch Schmidt-Cassegrain?

Sagittarius? is that by Scorpius and Capricornus?

hmmm...
I'm kinda ignorant about some of this stuff

all I know is that this type of photography is very hard
I greatly admire your work

I'd love to hear all the details about how you got such fine shots
:icontroyc35:
Yes, it is a 11" Shmidt-Cassegrain as you said. A very good scope. Sagittarisus is but scourpius. Im not sure about the capricornus part. As Im not sure I have every payed atention to that one. Even though I am a capracorn myself. The Trifid, the Lagoon and one more of the nebulas you can see with your eyes under a dark sky. A pair of binoculars will actualy show you a little more detail. I have a couple of Galaxy pics to that I could post.

I will do that in a bit.
